I’ve just recently come across a bit of software called WebGuide which gives your Media Center box some great functionality. I’ve always wanted to be able to remotely queue up recordings from the guide and this program (based upon a lightweight ASP.NET web server called Cassini, impressive in itself) does exactly this, and a whole lot more.

You can also stream live TV, and recordings as well as it having a transcoding engine built into it for streaming divx/xvid and the like. The full version unlocks this streaming functionality and costs around £8 — worth doing with the good exchange rate we’ve got against the $. With the trial version you still get to set recordings from the guide, and theres no time limit either!
